Denning Admission Test Guide

The Denning admission test helps us get to know you better and assess your readiness for your chosen program. It’s a one-hour test divided into three sections:

Section 1: English Language Skills

This part checks your understanding of English grammar and how well you can use the language. You’ll answer multiple-choice questions covering things like sentence structure, parts of speech, punctuation, and vocabulary. Think of it as a review of the English you’ve already learned.

Example Question Types:

  • Choosing the right word to complete a sentence.
  • Spotting errors in grammar.
  • Understanding the meaning of words.

Section 2: General Knowledge

This section explores your general awareness of the world around you. You’ll answer multiple-choice questions about current events, history, geography, and other interesting topics. Keeping up with the news and having a general curiosity about the world will be helpful.

Example Question Types:

  • Questions about recent happenings.
  • Questions about important historical events or people.
  • Questions about different countries or cultures.

Section 3: Writing

Here, you’ll have the chance to show us your writing skills. You’ll write short essays (about 200-250 words each) on topics we provide. We’re looking for clear and organized writing, good grammar, and your ability to express your ideas. Don’t worry about being perfect; just write naturally and thoughtfully.

How to Prepare:

  • English: Review basic grammar rules and practice reading and writing in English.
  • General Knowledge: Read newspapers, magazines, or online news sources to stay informed.
  • Writing: Practice writing about different topics. Focus on expressing your ideas clearly.
