Denning Admission Test Guide
The Denning admission test helps us get to know you better and assess your readiness for your chosen program. It’s a one-hour test divided into three sections:
Section 1: English Language Skills
This part checks your understanding of English grammar and how well you can use the language. You’ll answer multiple-choice questions covering things like sentence structure, parts of speech, punctuation, and vocabulary. Think of it as a review of the English you’ve already learned.
Example Question Types:
- Choosing the right word to complete a sentence.
- Spotting errors in grammar.
- Understanding the meaning of words.
Section 2: General Knowledge
This section explores your general awareness of the world around you. You’ll answer multiple-choice questions about current events, history, geography, and other interesting topics. Keeping up with the news and having a general curiosity about the world will be helpful.
Example Question Types:
- Questions about recent happenings.
- Questions about important historical events or people.
- Questions about different countries or cultures.
Section 3: Writing
Here, you’ll have the chance to show us your writing skills. You’ll write short essays (about 200-250 words each) on topics we provide. We’re looking for clear and organized writing, good grammar, and your ability to express your ideas. Don’t worry about being perfect; just write naturally and thoughtfully.
How to Prepare:
- English: Review basic grammar rules and practice reading and writing in English.
- General Knowledge: Read newspapers, magazines, or online news sources to stay informed.
- Writing: Practice writing about different topics. Focus on expressing your ideas clearly.
