Modules
The International Foundation is a one-of-a-kind program that is unique to Denning since it creates a powerful combination of international curriculum with a pioneering Skill Development Course that prepares the student for the real-world.
Core Modules
This module equips students with the language and academic tools essential for success in higher education. It focuses on critical reading, structured writing, presentation skills, and research techniques. Students also gain familiarity with academic culture, independent learning strategies, and time management, all while developing CEFR B2+ proficiency across reading, writing, listening, and speaking in academic contexts.
Designed to strengthen analytical thinking, this module builds competence in algebra, statistics, financial mathematics, and problem-solving. Students learn to interpret data, evaluate arguments using quantitative evidence, and apply mathematical models to real-world scenarios. With a strong emphasis on reasoning and application, the module prepares learners for data-driven decision-making across disciplines.
This module develops essential digital skills needed for academic and professional success. Students gain hands-on experience with productivity software, online research, digital collaboration tools, and content creation platforms. Emphasis is placed on ethical information use, media literacy, digital citizenship, and adapting to new technologies ensuring readiness for the digital demands of modern higher education.
This interdisciplinary module explores contemporary social issues, cultural diversity, global citizenship, and sustainability. Through critical analysis of media, research projects, and reflective writing, students engage with real-world challenges and develop intercultural competence. The module fosters ethical reasoning, collaboration, and global awareness preparing students to thrive in diverse academic and professional environments.
Students gain a foundational understanding of business structures, economic systems, and market dynamics. Topics include micro and macroeconomics, entrepreneurship, consumer behaviour, global trade, and financial literacy. The module integrates theory with real-world application through case studies and simulations, offering a solid platform for further study in business-related undergraduate programmes.
Elective Modules (any One)
This module introduces students to legal systems, political ideologies, and governance structures. Covering topics like civil and constitutional law, human rights, and justice frameworks, it also develops skills in legal analysis, policy critique, and structured debate. It’s ideal for students interested in law, international relations, or political science at the undergraduate level.
Focused on foundational programming skills, this module teaches algorithmic thinking, problem-solving, and the basics of Python. Students explore software development principles, data structures, and the application of coding in various fields. Designed for beginners, it lays the groundwork for further study in computing, engineering, or data science.
Students engage with literary texts, language diversity, and cultural narratives across global contexts. This module introduces students to the digital business landscape, covering entrepreneurship, market research, social media strategy, and SEO. It’s a strong foundation for business or marketing degrees.
Skill Development Modules
The Denning International Foundation College offers public speaking as a foundational course within its Skill Development Curriculum (SDC). This course is designed to equip students with essential communication skills necessary for success in various aspects of life, including academics, professional endeavors, and personal interactions.
In the Denning International Foundation College's Skill Development Curriculum (SDC), IT Skills are integrated to equip students with essential digital competencies. Through hands-on training, students learn to navigate software tools, utilize digital resources, and develop proficiency in areas such as coding, data analysis, and information management, preparing them for the digital age.
Introduction to City & Guilds
Denning collaborates with City & Guilds to deliver vocational education and training. Through this partnership, we offer our students the opportunity to gain industry-recognized certifications that enhance their skills and employability.
As part of our foundation program, students can earn two City & Guilds certifications per year, which will be free of cost.
These certifications not only demonstrate a student’s expertise and commitment to their field but also significantly boost their job prospects and career advancement opportunities.

What is the duration of the program?
Duration of the program is 1 year.
Is the Foundation Program recognized by the IBCC?
Yes, the Foundation Diploma is internationally recognized as equivalent to A Levels and is also locally recognized by the IBCC.
What subjects are taught in the IFD Program?
The IFD Program includes 6 modules: Developing English Language Skills, English for Academic Purposes, Mathematics for University studies, International Business, Introduction to Accounting and Economics, Research and Study Skills for University studies, Introduction to Economics and Introduction to Programming (Python). The modules run from September to June and students also participate in skill development workshops throughout the year to enhance their analytical skills.
What is the IFD of the UK?
The IFD Program focuses on developing students; vocational skills, such as English language, writing, drafting, speaking and analytical skills. It prepares students for undergraduate programs at local and foreign universities at Denning. The program is designed for students who have completed their O Levels, Intermediate and Matric studies.
